P.6 English – Students’ articles on saving endangered animals

4 May

I’m proud to say that many of my students’ articles and their designs are pretty impressive. Some of them used my template and edited a bit, while others designed a new layout or drew by hand.

As for the content, I am happy that most of them know how to add interesting details. They got the facts from the Internet about how humans destory the habitant/ harm the animals, then they made up their personal stories using the data.

I hope I can show every of their work here, but I don’t have time to scan 30 of them!!😄 So I just randomly picked some and put them here.

Jamilla made a polar bear puppet and wrote the article on it. All the lambs are movable!

Phoebe drew some lovely pictures to illustate her work.

Cherry is the artist in our class.

Christy and Veronica  used the template provided by me.

Karen and Candy created their own layouts.

You have every reason to be proud of your students’ work, Janet. These examples illustrate how to incorporate meaningful topic content into writing. The writing is not done just for the sake of ‘practising’ writing, but for presenting authentic messages. This gives meaning to the writing, especially for upper primary students who begin to think about the things around them. The design of the writing task also allows for personal creativity and style.
